Weapons and ammunition transport

Reminder:

Hunting, sporting and leisure weapons authorized for transport are subject to a fee. This service is charged at €50 per direction. 
Only firearms belonging to police and gendarmerie officers in the performance of their duties are accepted free of charge. 
A transport authorization must be requested in advance at least 48 hours before departure "Aux services Spéciaux" AIR CARAIBES.
When the holder is transporting ammunition alone, the €50 fee applies (the quantity of ammunition is limited to 5 kg per passenger).

Firearms concerned:

  • Guns designed for hunting game, birds and other animals,
  • Guns used for pigeon shooting, balltrap, competition shooting,
  • Mousquet: nowadays considered a sporting weapon (formerly military weapon).
  • Collectible weapons.

Electrical weapons containing dangerous elements such as explosives, Lithium batteries or compressed gases: electric discharge pistols (Tasers...), truncheons, etc...

The carriage of hunting and sporting weapons is not authorized in the cabin, authorization for carriage must be requested in advance at least 48 hours before departure "From Special Services" AIR CARAIBES, or from your travel agency, provided you can present all required permits and licenses.

AIR CARAIBES is authorized to carry ammunition and sporting weapons in the hold provided they meet the following regulatory requirements:

  • Respect of baggage allowances 23 kg Regional and Long-haul sector Sun class, 32 KG long-haul Caribbean or Madras class,
     
  • You are authorized to carry ammunition (cartridge for small arms) classified by the UN nomenclature at references division 1.4S UN 0012 (cartridges with inert projectiles for weapons) or UN 0014 (blank cartridges for weapons), excluding ammunition containing explosive or incendiary projectiles.

 

Firearms concerned:

  • Guns designed for hunting game, birds and other animals,

  • Collectible weapons.
     

Ammunition limits:

  • Each passenger is allowed to carry, as hold baggage, only one package of ammunition.
  • The total gross weight of ammunition carried by the passenger must not exceed 5Kg.
  • Ammunition must be presented at check-in in a securely wrapped package.
  • Multiple passengers may not combine their ammunition in a single package
     

How do I declare a sporting or hunting firearm?
Sporting and hunting weapons are authorized provided that prior approval is obtained, as well as the following obligations:

  • Declare your intention to transport sporting weapons and/or ammunition on AIR CARAIBES flights,
  • Contact the special transport department at least 48H before your flight in order to obtain the company's approval, enclose a copy of the sports federation's license proving that it is for competitive shooting so that we can authorize the transport of the weapon.   • Possess a legal permit to carry a firearm, (permit or licenses required),
  • In the case of international flights the holder proves the completion of all legal formalities concerning entry into the country.
  • The weapons carried are sporting and hunting weapons only,
  • Be at least 18 years of age,
  • Identify yourself at check-in with the declaration below in 3 duly completed copies. Two copies must be handed in at the time of registration.
